A dog saved a southside family from a fire in the middle of the night.Β

The dog was on a leash outside a mobile home on the 5200 block of South Campbell Avenue when a fire started around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Tucson Fire Department said in a news release. The dog began to bark and woke a 40-year-old woman, one of four people asleep inside the mobile home.

The woman opened the door to see why the dog was barking and saw the fire engulfing the carport. After she woke up the other members of her family, they fled out the back door. The flames engulfed the mobile home, but no injuries were reported.Β

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage, TFD said.
