PCC board of governors

This July file photo shows an empty space where a photo of Marty Cortez, Pima Community College’s longest serving board member, was removed from a wall at college headquarters shortly after she resigned.

Pima Community College has another sudden vacancy on its Governing Board.

David Longoria, the board’s District 2 representative since 2010, has resigned effective immediately because he’s relocating outside Pima County for professional reasons, a statement on PCC’s website says.

Longoria’s six-year term expires next year. Pima County Schools Superintendent Linda Arzoumanian must now choose a temporary replacement for the college’s District 2 seat.

She also had to do so after former District 5 representative Marty Cortez resigned from the PCC board June 30 for personal reasons.

Longoria was one of last two remaining board members in charge of the college when the board was deemed β€œdysfunctional” by PCC’s accreditor in 2013. The last is District 4 representative Scott Stewart.
