Marana schools slated to host free concert

Marana Unified School District is hosting a free concert at Mountain View High School on April 19.

The concert will feature Marana Winds, a group of musicians who banded together to raise money for Marana schools.

The event will be in the school’s auditorium, 3901 W. Linda Vista Blvd. Though the concert is free, attendees can donate to the Marana schools’ 2340 Foundation.

Rincon/UHS team off to world championship

Rincon/University High School’s Winter Guard team is headed to the world championship this week.

Winter Guard is a color guard ceremony derived from military-style ceremonies.

The team performed last Thursday to raise money for the trip.

The world championship will be held in Dayton, Ohio, from April 5 to 8.

Saint Ambrose hosts kindergarten roundup

Saint Ambrose Catholic School is hosting a kindergarten roundup event on May 2.

From 8 a.m. to noon, prospective parents will have a chance to visit the school’s campus, 300 S. Tucson Blvd., to learn about its kindergarten programs.

Scholarships are available for the upcoming school year.

4 receive Crystal Apple Teacher awards

Four Tucson-area teachers will be honored by the Tucson North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Cynthia Blackey of BASIS Oro Valley, Michelle Gerard of Canyon del Oro High School, and Kevin Baker and A.J. Lepore of Ironwood High School will receive the Crystal Apple Teacher Recognition Awards.

These honorees were nominated by church members who attend high schools in the north Tucson and Oro Valley area, which includes BASIS Oro Valley and Amphitheater schools.
