TUSD Deputy Superintendent Adrian Vega is returning to Texas after being named the lone finalist for the top job in the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District.

Vega, a colleague of TUSD Superintendent H.T. Sanchez, came to Tucson in July 2013 after Sanchez took over Tucson’s largest school district.

Though the San Benito CISD Board of Trustees selected Vega for the superintendent position, in Texas, superintendent candidates must wait 21 days after they are named before they can sign a contract.

“The employees are highly committed to providing the best for the students,” Vega said in a news release from San Benito.

Vega came to TUSD from New Tech Odessa High School in Texas where he served as principal.

He has also worked in the Dallas Independent School District as an elementary school assistant principal, a coordinator of professional development and a director who worked with professional development for leadership and aspiring principals.
