The Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation was awarded $15,000 to reach out to children living in poverty.
The organization won the money thanks to a successful pitch to local investors concerned about social causes in a contest dubbed βFast Pitchβ sponsored by Social Venture Partners.
SARSEF Director of Research Liz Baker’s pitch won $10,000 from SVP investors and $5,000 from GreaterGood.org
The money will be used to provide in-class presentations on STEM β science, technology, engineering and math β as well as professional development for teachers on integrating standards, and science nights that guide parents on how to help their children find a passion for science.
