Three University High School students took top honors in an Arizona State University essay and poster contest.

This year's theme was "be the face of change."

Adriana De La Torre, senior, won first place in the poster category for the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee children's essay and poster contest. She created a close-up rendering of King's face and one of his eyes is painted to depict Earth.Β

Her peers, Priscilla Castillo, senior, and Rachel Sinex, junior, won second and third places respectively in the same category.

The three students were selected from more than 1,300 entries. They will be honored at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration on Jan. 19 at ASU's polytechnic campus.Β
