Crews working overnight were able to stop forward progress of a wildfire burning near Oracle at about 10 acres, authorities said Wednesday.
The Cedar Fire started just before 5 p.m. Tuesday. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
Some residents of Oracle were warned by the Pinal County Sheriff's Department to be ready to evacuate. Crews worked overnight and were able to surround the fire with containment lines, the Coronado National Forest said in an update Wednesday morning.
"Crews will begin mopping up the perimeter and piling fuel sources to help reduce the chance of a spot fire occurring outside of the perimeter lines," the update said.
Helicopters were expected to be used Wednesday to drop water on hot spots.
Forward progress on a wildfire burning since Tuesday afternoon near Oracle was stopped at about 10 acres by Wednesday morning, authorities say.
Meanwhile, the Greer Fire burning in eastern Arizona had charred 20,308 acres, officials said in an update Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were expected to continue to patrol and mop up remaining hotspots.
Portions of Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest have been closed.
Stage 2 fire restrictions prohibiting campfires, stove fires, the use of charcoal briquettes and smoking remain in place.
And a wildfire reported Tuesday in Cowboy Canyon was burning through grass and brush about 14 miles northeast of Willcox, officials said. A crew was working on containment lines for the blaze named the Maverick Fire, which was last reported to be about five acres.
The Bryce Fire west of Safford is 100% contained at 3,294 acres, Arizona fire officials said.
