A woman and three children were displaced after a garage fire damaged their home in the 1700 block of West Rue De La Montagne in Midvale Park early Sunday morning, according to Capt. Andy Skaggs with the Tucson Fire Department.

A resident, who was alone at the time, heard a pop in the garage and when she opened the door to investigate she saw the room was on fire, Skaggs said.

Before she fled to a neighbors to call authorities the resident closed the door to the garage preventing the fire from spreading into the house, Skaggs said.

The first firefighters to arrive extinguished the majority of the flames and searched for more occupants while another removed the garage door and doused the remaining flames.

Another crew opened the ceiling ventilating the roof and then battled the last of the fire.

The fire originated in a car in the garage but the investigation is still ongoing, Skaggs said. The damages are yet to be determined.

There were no injuries and the four residents are receiving help from the Red Cross and friends.
