UPDATE: Tucson police: Fatal hit and run turns into homicide
The Tucson Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run pedestrian collision on Saturday evening in midtown, police said in a release.
Troy Allen, 38, was identified as the pedestrian who was discovered in the area of South Alvernon Way and South Contractors Way by a passing motorist after 7 p.m., according to TPD.
Allen was found lying in the road by the motorist who called 911. Efforts to revive him by TPD and members of the Tucson Fire Department were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Based on his injuries and nearby evidence it appears he was struck by a vehicle north of the intersecting roads, according to police.
The driver who discovered Allen remained on the scene and spoke to the police but he did not witness the collision or see other vehicles in the area.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
