Actor-activist Jane Fonda is in Tucson to campaign for three local Democratic candidates as part of her broader push to elect public officials she sees as friendly to the cause of fighting climate change.

Friday morning she’ll go door to door, canvassing for Arizona Corporation Commission candidate Joshua Polacheck of Tucson, starting in the Broadway-Country Club Road area, according to his campaign.

Thursday afternoon and evening, Fonda was scheduled to appear at a combined happy hour-house party fundraising event at a private home in the Catalina Foothills. The fundraiser benefitted Jen Allen, a Democratic candidate for the Pima County Board of Supervisors, and John McLean, a Democratic candidate for the state Senate.

All three candidates, along with the two other Democrats running for the Corporation Commission, Jonathon Hill and Ylenia Aguilar, are endorsed by the Jane Fonda Climate PAC.

Fonda says the PAC’s goal is “to defeat fossil fuel supporters and elect climate champions at all levels of government.”
