Tucson City Council Ward 3

Results of a recount Friday confirmed Kevin Dahl as the winner in the Democratic primary race for Tucson’s Ward 3 by a 19-vote margin.

The results of the recount released Friday showed Dahl, the incumbent, collected 3,296 votes while Sadie Shaw, the challenger, collected 3,277 votes.

The Aug. 5 primary race was so close it triggered an automatic recount.

The recount was delayed, however, after Shaw challenged the outcome in court, citing an error by election officials that resulting in the wrong ballots being mailed to 76 voters in the ward.

Shaw lost the challenge earlier this week.

Dahl is seeking a second term. He moves on the face Republican Janet β€œJL” Wittenbraker in November’s general election.
