Pima County residents can get a heads-up on public safety incidents with a new warning service. Sign up at MyAlerts.Pima.gov.

Pima County residents wanting to get a heads-up about nearby disasters or public safety incidents now have a new tool at their disposal.

MyAlerts.Pima.gov, which is also the website where those interested can sign up, can send out messages to a number of electronic devices, and limit them to specific areas based on ZIP codes, blocks or streets.

While the signup process does ask for address information, the website states that “your personal information is private and will be kept strictly confidential. In fact, we won’t even have access to it, and it will not be used for any other purpose.”

The signup takes a few minutes.

The service uses the Glendale, California-based company Everbridge’s platform.

The Office of Emergency Management’s initial one-year contract with Everbridge has a not-to-exceed value of $175,000, and includes up to four one-year renewals, according to county documents available online.
