Vote counting

A tally of 12,700 early ballots continued at the Pima County Election Center on Wednesday. A final result in Congressional District 2 could take days.

The Pima County Elections Department will count "nearly all" remaining ballots today, with an updated count expected to be released after 5:30 p.m.

A small number of provisional ballots, according to Pima County Elections Director Brad Nelson, are being returned to the County Recorder’s Office for further review. Those ballots will be rechecked Wednesday because the office is closed for Veterans Day.

Those ballot rechecks should not affect undecided races, Nelson said in a news release.

Once the count is finished for the general election, the elections department will begin counting the special ballots from the Continental School District Governing Board race later this week.

A printing error on the general election ballot forced Pima County to send special ballots to voters in the Continental School District. Only votes cast on the new ballot will be counted in the governing board race.
