Oro Valley Town Council election

All three challengers in the Oro Valley Town Council race were still leading the vote count as of Wednesday afternoon.

Challenger Rhonda Pina is leading all of the candidates with Steve Solomon close behind and Bill Rodman in third place.

To be elected in the primary a candidate must earn a certain percentage of total votes cast. It wasn’t clear if all of the ballots cast in the Oro Valley race have been counted.

Six candidates vied for three council positions, with incumbents Bill Garner, Mike Zinkin and Brendan Burns defending their seats .

As early ballot results began to post on the Pima County election website Tuesday night, the three challengers emerged on top and held their places throughout.

Campaign finance records from Jan. 1 through Aug. 18 show the challengers, who were campaigning together, outraised and outspent the incumbents by nearly 10 times.
