Tucson isn't part of a heat warning issued this weekend in some parts of the state, but it could reach 108 degrees in Tucson this weekend.

Arizona's triple-digit temperatures could reach 114 degrees this weekend leading the National Weather Service to issue an excessive heat warning.

The warning will last through the heart of the weekend from Friday at 10 a.m. until Sunday at 8 p.m., meteorologists say.

Highs are expected to reach between 108 and 114 degrees.

Saturday is expected to be the hottest day.

The warning is in place for Phoenix and areas in southwestern Arizona including Yuma and Lake Havasu City.

For the first time this year, Tucson’s high temperature is expected to top 100 degrees, according to a forecast by the National Weather Service here. It could be 108 degrees here Saturday and Sunday, the forecast says.

The heat will be the result of a high pressure system that's expected to move into the state later this week.

The National Weather Service is warning people to take precautions for children and pets and to drink extra water.

Meanwhile, the NWS in Tucson says a weak and slow moving low pressure system in southern Arizona will result in mainly dry thunderstorms mostly north and northeast of Tucson Tuesday afternoon.

There’s a chance that strong and gusty winds up to 45 miles per hour will accompany the storms.

Localized blowing dust that can reduce visibility is possible.
