What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”
Last week’s recipient: Cecil Reyes.
Nominated by: Patricia LaPeruta.
Why: For her generous and thoughtful contributions to the Mountain View High School community, where she serves as a hall monitor. Reyes shines when you see her involvement in various campus activities, LaPeruta wrote in her nomination letter. She started the Sharing is Caring program that collects extra unused food to redistribute throughout the day. This allows students to always have something to eat. She also collects bottle tops for dialysis patients, providing free dialysis time for needy patients. Her newest contribution to make the high school a better place is her work with the Cinderella Project. She collects gently used formal dresses for students attending prom and winter formal who cannot afford them.
“Cecil is the epitome of someone who wants to make this world a better place,” LaPeruta wrote.
