Tucson police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a woman on South Fourth Avenue early Sunday morning.

The unidentified woman was "in the middle of the road" near East 13th Street, in the Armory Park neighborhood, about 3 a.m. Sunday when she was struck, Tucson police said in a news release.

The woman was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothes in an area of the street that is not well lit, the release said. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification, police said.

No description of the vehicle involved in the crash has been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
