On Oct. 9, 1987, Tucson resident Gale Green should have been out on the town.

She had 7 p.m. plans with friends, and was expected home later that night.

Neither of those things happened.

Gale Green

Tucson Police said that sometime between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., Green, 40, had planned to close the lingerie shop she owned early. But before she could make it out of the shop doors, someone beat her to death.

About 1:30 a.m., Green’s husband hadn’t heard from his wife, he began to worry. He was having car trouble so he called her brother, David Green, to check on her.

David Green drove to his sister’s shop β€” Satisfactions β€” then located at 2029 N. Country Club Road.

The front door was unlocked and the lights were on inside the business, the sibling previously told the Star. Her battered body was found on the floor of the lingerie shop.

Tucson police said there was evidence of a struggle throughout the shop.

Police said a witness who had left the store about closing time noticed a man walk in as she was leaving.

Police have said they failed to get a match for DNA they believe belongs to Green’s killer, the Star reported in 2009.

Tucson police detectives are looking to breathe life into the 37-year murder case. They ask that anyone with memories of Gale Green contact 88-Crime, www.88crime.org, the anonymous tips line.
