The death of a 31-year-old man found wounded in the street of an eastside neighborhood early Saturday was a homicide, Tucson police say.

Police were called to the area of East Seneca Street and North Ridgeway Road about 6:00 a.m. Saturday for a report of an unresponsive man in the street, police said Sunday in a news release. The neighborhood is near East Grant and North Wilmot roads.

Officers found Demeris Johnson with "obvious signs of trauma." Johnson died a short time later at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
