A small wildfire on the western end of the southern slopes of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson just above and east Swan Road on Thursday September 6, 2018.

A lightning strike started a fire in the Santa Catalina Mountains Thursday evening, officials confirmed.Β 

The fire, named Pontatoc, was reported about 6:30 p.m. One acre had burned near Finger Rock Canyon, saidΒ Heidi Schewel, public affairs officer for the U.S. Forest Service.

No structures are threatened by the fire, she said.

The fire is currently a quarter of an acre in size, according to a Facebook post by the Coronado National Forest.Β 

Firefighters are on scene and are monitoring the fire.Β
