A 37-year-old man was arrested six hours after damaging three businesses and being in a standoff with Tucson police officers Monday morning.

Herman Archuleta was booked into the Pima County Jail for three counts of third-degree burglary and one count of criminal damage, a TPD news release said.

Tucson police responded to a call about a burglary in progress at 954 W. Prince Rd. just before 8:20 a.m., where Archuleta was armed inside of a mattress store, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Negotiators tried to talk to Archuleta and get him to surrender, but he failed to respond. SWAT personnel entered the business and arrested Archuleta without incident.

Detectives later found a BB gun allegedly used by Archuleta in the incidents.

He was transported to a hospital and treated for heat-related issues before being booked into jail Monday night, Bay said.
