A man has been arrested in Florence after attempting to exchange drugs and alcohol for sexual favors with a minor, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.

The conversation began April 18 on a social media application, where 25-year-old Shawn Sethi believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl. It turned out to be an investigator with the sheriff's office.

Sethi was made aware by the investigator that he was chatting with a minor but he continued to communicate on the application, a news release said. He then scheduled to meet in Florence.

During the arrest, investigators found alcohol and drugs in his possession. Sethi is charged with one count of attempted sexual conduct with a minor, luring a minor, child sex trafficking, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.Β

Sheriff Mark Lamb said it is the second time a similar arrest has been made this week.

β€œIn both cases, the meeting either happened or was scheduled almost as soon as the conversation got started. It’s a shame that there are people out there that will try to target our most innocent,” he said.
