A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash Saturday night that killed a rider and horse south of Tucson.
Dimas Leon Mariscal, 36, was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash involving injury or death, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.
The crash happened about 10 p.m. in the 10500 block of South Nogales Highway, near the fork to Old Nogales Highway south of the city.
Witnesses told investigators that a small blue pickup truck fled the area after crashing into the rider and horse, killing both.
The horse rider has been identified as Scott Allen Brown, 50.
The wreck remains under investigation.
