DUI bride

Marana police say body cam video recorded Amber Young saying she was on the way to her wedding.

New charges have been added in the case of Tucson's so-called "DUI bride," who crashed into a car and told police that she was on the way to her wedding.

Amber Young, 32, is now facing multiple DUI-related charges, including extreme DUI with a blood alcohol level above 0.20, according to Marana Municipal court records.

Young is also charged with speeding, court records show.

Young's arrest photo in March showing her in a white dress on handcuffs went viral on social media, after police arrested her when she struck another vehicle at 10:30 a.m.

A witness told police that Young was speeding and swerving before she hit the median prior to the crash at North Thornydale and West Orange Grove roads, according to the Marana police report.

Young first denied having anything to drink but later told police she'd had a glass of champagne and was "anxious and nervous because it was her wedding day," the report said.

She was initially charged with impaired driving and received a traffic citation for speeding.

The additional charges were added on April 25, according to court records.

Days after Young's arrest, her Tucson attorney, Michelle Behan, accused police of making up the wedding story.

Marana police denied Behan's claims, saying Young's statements were captured on body camera video.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for June 20.
