A motorcyclist was killed in a collision Wednesday evening at West Ina Road at the Interstate 10 interchange, authorities say.

The crash, at about 6 p.m., involved a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 1991 Jeep Cherokee, says a news release from the Marana Police Department.Β

Early investigation shows the Jeep was going west on Ina and had a red signal when the motorcycle, driven by Russell Grimm, started accelerating through the eastbound frontage road and Ina on a green signal, police said.Β

"As the Harley-Davidson entered the intersection, the collision occurred," the news release said.

Grimm, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving attempts by officers.

The driver of the Jeep, who wasn’t identified, stayed on scene, police said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
