Oro Valley Town Manager Greg Caton is a finalist for a similar job in a Denver suburb.

Caton was hired as Oro Valley’s assistant town manager in 2010, was named interim town manager in 2011, and was promoted to town manager in 2012.

He was previously assistant city manager in Durango, Colorado, for eight years, and he attended college at Fort Lewis College in Durango and the University of Colorado-Denver. He grew up in Colorado Springs.

Caton is one of five finalists for the city manager job in Golden, Colo., which is about 15 miles west of Denver. He will attend a community meeting there Friday.

The job opening is “a professional opportunity I wanted to explore,” Caton said.

Oro Valley paid Caton $173,583 in 2014, including salary and benefits.
