Eight puppies that were found abandoned outside a store at Park Place mall in October are now parvo-free and just about ready to find their forever homes, officials said Thursday.

While making rounds at about 7 a.m. on Oct. 12, a security guard found a plastic bin with nine puppies outside the Humane Society's Pawsh Boutique store in the mall.

Brandy Burke, chief operations officer of the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, quickly went to retrieve the pups, who were very sickly and all tested positive for parvo.

One of the puppies died shortly after arriving at the shelter, but through $8,000 in donations raised by the community, the other eight puppies received intensive medical care and are currently thriving, Humane Society officials said in an email.

PAWSH at Park Place will be accepting applications for adoption Friday through Sunday, during regular business hours (Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday 12 to 5 p.m.)

The Humane Society will chose eight approved adopters at random and send the pups on their way to their forever homes.
