Pima County Consolidated Justice Court will stay open after hours on Tuesday, June 12, to help people resolve outstanding warrants and other legal issues.
The June Warrant Resolution Court will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the courthouse, 240 N. Stone Ave.
People with outstanding warrants or suspended licenses can meet with attorneys and go before judges to settle or quash their warrants.
While the event will be held at Justice Court, those with outstanding warrants or issues with Tucson City Court are also welcome to attend, said deputy court administrator Micci Tilton.
Since its inception in June 2016, the after-hours warrant-resolution program has been integral in helping reduce the back log of outstanding warrants facing the county, according to data provided by the Pima County Safety and Justice Challenge.
In June 2015, there were 23,148 outstanding warrants issued from Justice Court, but as of Wednesday, that number had been reduced to 13,954 outstanding warrants, a reduction of nearly 40 percent, Tilton said.
The program is supported through a $50,000 grant from the John T. and Catherine D. McArthur Foundation, which helps pay the overtime for employees who work the evening program.
Although walk-ins are welcome, those looking to resolve their legal issues are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 724-3171.
