With only five days remaining in the SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network's "payoff vet debt" campaign, the group is still seeking funds so they can donate $30,000 to local pet rescue groups.

The group has pledged $15,000 in donations from SaddleBrooke residents and is hoping that Tucsonans can match the donation amount, said Leslie Rocco, one of the group's founders.

As of Saturday, the group had passed the $10,000 donation mark and Tucson pet advocate Bonnie Kay has upped the ante, offering to add another $1 to every dollar raised, Rocco said.

With Kay's additional offer, all donations up to $15,000 will be tripled, meaning that 11 local rescue groups could share up to $45,000 to help payoff their debt, Rocco said.

Donations can be made by check or credit card at www.payoffvetdebt.comΒ

The network is holding a grand finale fundraiser on Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Casa Film Bar, 2905 E. Speedway. A portion of each drink purchased will be donated to the campaign and pets are welcome to attend the event.

SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network will be donating money from the campaign evenly among 11 local rescue groups, and the funds will be paid directly to their vet accounts.
