A Sahuarita woman accused of fraudulently altering water sample test results for water providers that were clients of her Sahuarita-based company has pleaded guilty to attempted fraud.

The state Attorney General's Office says its plea agreement with 67-year-old Karen Hartwell, calls for her to serve eight months in jail and pay a $10,000 fine.

Hartwell pleaded guilty Monday will be sentenced Jan. 3 in Pima County Superior Court.

An April indictment charged Hartwell one count of fraud and five of forgery, accusing her of changing testing paperwork submitted to state regulators to replace positive results for bacterial contamination with negative results.

The indictment listed the customers of YL Tech as Trico Electric Co-op, Rancho Sierrita Well Association, Crossroads Park MHP, Ramsey Canyon Preserve and Kahula Well Co-op.
