A Sierra Vista man who died after falling from a moving truck Saturday was identified as Charley Troy Johnston, authorities said.

Johnston, 27, fell off the truck at 2:33 a.m. in the area of Town and Country Drive and Piccadilly Drive, Sierra Vista Police Department officials said. He climbed out of the passenger compartment of the truck while it was in motion and fell off the top of the truck.

Alcohol was found to be a determining factor in the incident, said authorities.

The driver and another passenger attempted to assist Johnston until paramedics arrived. Police and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures. He was taken to a hospital in Tucson and was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sierra Vista Police Detective Sgt. Sean Brownson at 520-452-7500.
