A 31-year-old Sierra Vista woman arrested on suspicion of DUI had her five children in the car at the time an officer pulled her over early Sunday, police say.
About 2:27 a.m. Jenna Suzanne Thames-Valenzuela was stopped by an officer who says he saw her commit several traffic violations, Corporal Tim Wachtel, a spokesman for the Sierra Vista Police Department, said in a news release Wednesday.
Thames-Valenzuela was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Because she had three minors under the age of 15 in the vehicle, Thames-Valenzuela was booked into the Cochise County jail on three counts of aggravated DUI in addition to one count of extreme DUI and one count of DUI. The threshold for an extreme DUI is a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or higher, the news release said.
A fifth passenger, Thames-Valenzuelaβs 19-year-old daughter, was also arrested for being under the age of 21 with alcohol in her system, Wachtel said.
