Tucson Fire Department firefighters working a blaze at the Goodwill Donation Center, 455 W. River Road, April 3, 2018. No one was injured, said Capt. Andy Skaggs.

Smoking materials outside the building of the Goodwill Donation Center caused an early morning fire Tuesday on Tucson's northwest side.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported by multiple 911-callers at about 5 a.m., said Capt. Andy Skaggs, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.

The Goodwill Donation Center is at 455 W. River Road.

Firefighters reported the inside of the building full of smoke and heat. The smoke banked down to the floor and there was zero visibility, said Skaggs.

The utilities were turned off and firefighters forced open the roll up door on the exterior to increase the visibility indoors. As the smoke cleared, firefighters determined the fire was out.

Twenty-six firefighters controlled the fire in nearly 30 minutes. No one was injured. Fire investigators determined the cause of the blaze was smoking materials on the rear, exterior of the building, said Skaggs.

A damage estimate is yet to be determined, Skaggs said.

The center is closed as officials assess the damage to the building and its contents.Β Β
