A suspected robber who police said was held at gunpoint by a patron outside a Marana business has been identified as Eric Allen Maynes.
Marana police officers were first to respond to the incident at Nirvana Reflexology Spa, 3720 W. Ina Road, east of North Thornydale Road about 3:16 p.m.
When officers arrived they found one man was armed with a handgun and commanding another male to stay down on the ground in the parking lot, a department press release said.
Officers were able to detain both men without incident.ย
After further investigation, detectives learned Maynes, 28, entered the business through its rear entrance. Once inside, he brandished a knife and demanded money from the employees.
Once Maynes had obtained the money, he fled to an adjacent parking lot and was chased by a patron who had been inside the business during the robbery, police said.
The patron was armed with a gun and fired several rounds in the direction of Maynes and was able to hold him at gunpoint until Marana police officers arrived, the release said.
Maynes was taken into custody and booked on felony armed robbery, aggravated assault, and kidnapping charges.
There were no reported injuries during the incident and the patron was not expected to face charges, the release said.ย
