A new study says Arizona has the highest rate of pedestrian deaths per residents in the U.S.
KVOA-TV in Tucson, Arizona, reports a Governors Highway Safety Association study found that Arizona had 1.61 pedestrian deaths per 100,000 people for the first half of 2017.
That's the highest rate in the country and nearly double the national average — a rate of .81 pedestrian deaths for every 100,000 people.
The study says the number of pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. has grown substantially faster than all other traffic deaths.
Tucson police say there have been seven pedestrian deaths in the city so far in 2018.
