Fourteen months after making inroads into the Old Pueblo, Dave’s Hot Chicken is opening its second Tucson area location.
The restaurant in a former Burger King at 3915 W. Costco Drive in Marana officially opens at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19. It is one of three new outposts of the restaurant that started as a late-night food cart in spring 2017 and immediately became a sensation courtesy press from Eater Los Angeles. Among its high-profile investors is the rapper Drake.
Since 2019, Dave’s Hot Chicken has opened 200 locations nationwide including four in Arizona; the Marana location, next door to Costco and Home Depot, will be its fifth and Joshua Levitt, the company’s spokesman, said two more Phoenix-area locations will open this year — one in Gilbert, where they already have a store, and another in the far west side community of Laveen.
Dave’s Hot Chicken specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken tenders and fries, served as sandwiches and sliders, with sides that include fries, kale slaw and mac-and-cheese. The four friends who started the concept opted for chicken tenders to create a portable street food that customers could grab and eat on the go, whether they were driving or walking.
The new location will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The location at 5615 E. Broadway, which opened in February 2023, is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and until 1 a.m. Thursday-Saturday.
