Visitors to Tucson's Downtown and surrounding areas today, will be treated to free rides on the streetcar, courtesy of the Tucson Roadrunners.
The hockey team is treating all passengers of the Sun Link Streetcar to free rides from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. today, coinciding with the Roadrunners 7:05 p.m. game at the Tucson Arena versus the Stockton Heat, according to a news release.
Passengers attending the game can board the streetcar at any of its 23 stops along the route and get off at the Cushing/Granada Street stop to enter the arena, the release said.
Free parking is available Thanksgiving weekend at all University of Arizona garages through Sunday and drivers are welcome to leave their cars and take the streetcar to any location along the route.
Black Friday shoppers can hunt for gifts at more than 120 local businesses on Fourth Avenue, with many shops and restaurants offering discounts.
Black Friday on Historic Fourth Avenue runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Other events taking place along the streetcar route include:
- Black Friday Night Live with the Jukebox Jungies from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Geronimo Plaza at Main Gate Square.
- 8th Annual Downtown Window Decorating competition begins Friday, Nov. 24, and runs through Dec. 25.
