UPDATE: 17-year-old fatally struck by car on Tucson's west side was Cholla High student
A teen girl has died after being struck by a car Thursday morning, officials say.
The girl was hit around 8:30 a.m. near West Silverlake Road and South Cottonwood Lane, according to Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesperson.
She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she died, Dugan said. Next of kin have been notified.
West Silverlake Road was closed for most of the day from South Mission Road to South Santa Cruz LaneΒ due to the crash. Β
There is no more information at this time.
