Tucson-area courts are set to give people with outstanding warrants a chance to resolve legal issues on a walk-in basis this Saturday.
The Pima County Consolidated Justice Court, 240 N. Stone Ave., will hear cases along with those from Sahuarita Municipal, Oro Valley Magistrate and Marana Municipal courts.
The cases will all be heard at the county Justice Court from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a news release.
Judges in Tucson City Court, 103 E. Alameda St., will hear cases β including South Tucson City Court cases β from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
βWe anticipate that most people who come to the event with a warrant from our court will have the opportunity to have their outstanding warrant quashed,β Pima County Consolidated Justice Court Administrator Doug Kooi said in the news release.
The county Justice Court has about 20,000 active warrants issued for 31 different agencies, according to officials.
Some of those warrants date back to 1990.
The majority of the warrants are for failure to appear in court on prior charges or for noncompliance of court sentences, according to the release.
Outstanding warrants result in the suspension of a personβs driverβs license, and the warrant resolution courts can quash these warrants, lift suspensions and have driverβs licenses reinstated by the state Department of Transportation Motor Vehicles Division,the release says.
People who owe court fees and fines can set up a payment plan or re-establish one already in place, officials said.
Free parking will be available at the seven-level public garage just south of the court building.
