Andrew β€œDrew” Sonnleitner, in front holding bell, with Judge Lisa Abrams, second from left, and Drew’s family.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is β€œbelled.”

Last week’s recipient: Andrew β€œDrew” Sonnleitner.

Nominated by: Pima County Superior Court Judge Lisa Abrams.

Why: In the last year, Drew has collected more than 700 new stuffed animals, which he has donated to police departments, fire stations and now Pima County Superior Court.

In March, Drew delivered more than 200 stuffed animals to be given to children in guardianship cases, Abrams wrote in her nomination letter.

Most of the children have lost one or both parents and the stuffed animals bring smiles to the children during a difficult time, Abrams wrote. β€œThis selfless young man is a shining star who embodies all that it means to be kind,” she wrote.
