Norma Santos Trujillo, recipient of a Ben’s Bell.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Norma Santos Trujillo.

Nominated by: Dr. Andy Tang.

Why: For her act of kindness in helping a couple push their disabled car off the road to safety and in the process she was struck by another car, resulting in traumatic amputations of both legs, a fractured neck, among other life-threatening injuries. “Despite this tragic life-changing event, Norma conducts herself with tremendous positivity, love, and devotion to those around her, and a fiery engagement in living life to the fullest,” Tang wrote in his nomination letter. “She exemplifies what the ideals of character, love of life and determination look like,” he wrote.
