Brandon Balascio

A Tucson man was issued 21 citations by the Arizona Game and Fish Department for poaching 12 javelina, three mule deers and four mourning doves, the agency said Thursday.

Wildlife officers cited Brandon Balascio with poaching the mule deer Dec. 12-13 north of Redington Road, the agency said in a news release. He was charged with poaching javelina from Dec. 17-27 near West Ironwood Hills Drive and North Painted Hills Road and off the 2500 block of North Summit Drive. The citations for the mourning dove offenses occurred during that time period in west Tucson and Marana, the department said.

The maximum penalty for poaching is six months in jail and a $750 fine for each count. Civil penalties, as well as revocations of hunting and fishing licenses, may also be imposed, the agency said.

The public can call the department's Operation Game Thief at 1-800-352-0700 to reported suspected wildlife violations.
