STK emergency

The death of a man who ran into a home on Tucson's west side then died during a fight with the resident, is being investigated as a homicide, police say.

About 11 p.m. Saturday a caller to 911 told police that a man who forced his way into his residence at a duplex in the 1300 block of West Yavapai Street, near West Speedway and North Riverview Boulevard, was now unresponsive, Tucson police said in a news release.

Officers rendered aid to Michael Perez, 46, but he died at the scene.

Initial information shows that Perez "exited his home shouting and appeared to be in an excited, disorientated state." He then entered a residence. The unidentified resident told Perez several times to leave before they started to fight. At some point during the brawl, Perez "lost consciousness and never recovered," the release said.

No one has been arrested and police are investigating the death as a homicide.
