Two young children were saved from a fire after their 17-year-old brother quickly removed them from their smoke-filled home, the Tucson Fire Department said.

Fire crews went to the house in the 8300 block of East 25th Street about 12:45 p.m. Friday following reports of smoke in the area.

Units arrived in five minutes and were able to quickly put out the fire which was burning in a single room of the house.

Smoke was first noticed by a 17-year-old boy in the house, and took his six-month-old sister out of the house. Unable to get back into the house because of the heavy smoke coming through the front door, the teen broke a bedroom window and removed another sister, who the department said is about a year old.

Two dogs got out of the house safely and another dog was found safe during a search by firefighters.

No injuries were reported.

The displaced family of five and their three dogs are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
