Possible showers Wednesday morning will turn into sunny skies, and temperatures are expected to rise about 10 degrees as the weekend approaches in Tucson, the National Weather Service here says.ย
Several days of sogginess hit the Tucson metro area, leaving behind between one and two inches of rain wherever storm clouds hovered.
During the last seven days, the Kino Medical Diversion Basin on Tucson's south side recorded 1.54 inches of rainfall. Other local recording sites, including basins and washes, didnโt quite measure up. Both the Rialto Basin and Arroyo Chico Wash at Cherry Avenue recorded 1.42 inches over the course of the last week.
Measurements taken at Catalina State Park for the same period showed 1.1 inches of rainfall.
For those ready to shed their jacket, Saturday temperatures will hit 69 degrees, a high not seen here in almost a week.
However, Tucsonans might have some more rain to deal with before theyโre in for sunny skies.
Wednesday holds a 30 percent chance of rain before 11 a.m., with clouds clearing throughout the afternoon. A high of 59 degrees is expected.
The National Weather Service shows sunny skies on Thursday morning with a high of 62 degrees. Nighttime clouds roll in bringing a low temperature of 41-degrees.
Temperatures continue to rise on Friday, with a high of 63 degrees with sunny skies. The low will be about 38 degrees, the weather service says.
Saturday and Sunday high temperatures are anticipated to hit the 70s with sunny or mostly sunny skies. Low temperatures this weekend will be in the mid 40s.
As the work week kicks off and kids head back to class Monday, sunny skies and a high temperature of 75 degrees is expected, the weather service says.
