Three men have been arrested in connection with the killing this week of a man inside a smoke shop on Tucson's south side, police say.

The incident began to unfold about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday when a shooting inside a smoke shop in the 4900 block of South 12th Avenue, south of West Irvington Road, was reported to 911, Tucson police said Friday in a news release.

Investigators say Michael Jeron Thurman, 26, was was one of several people inside when he was approached and assaulted. He was eventually shot by one of the people in the assault, the release said. Several people ran away immediately after the shooting.

Thurman died at the scene. There was no indication he knew any of his attackers, the release said.

Investigators soon obtained three arrest warrants.

Later in the day of the shooting, Joseph Armani Davis, 18, was arrested at his home near West Ajo Way. Davis was eventually booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of first degree murder and kidnapping. Bond was set at $500,00, the release said.

On Jan. 17, Alexander Maximus Buendia, 20, was arrested at a home on West Ft. Lowell Road. He was booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. He was jailed and held without bond, the release said.

On Jan. 18, Fernando Valencia, 19, was jailed on suspicion of first degree murder, the release said.

The case continues to be investigated. However, police say no one else is being sought in connection to the killing.
