Hit-and-run Speedway Crash

A Tucson woman recently struck by a hit-and-run driver on East Speedway has died of her injuries, Tucson Police Department said.

Rose Davila, 62, died Sunday at Banner University Medical Center, nine days after police found her in the roadway near 8225 E. Speedway, east of North Sarnoff Drive.

The woman's injuries were initially described as serious but non- life-threatening, but she took a turn for the worse, authorities said.

Police said Davila was not in a crosswalk on April 27 around 6 p.m. when she tried to cross from the south side of Speedway to the north side and was hit by a four-door sedan.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and kept going eastbound on Speedway, a police news release said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 88-CRIME.
