Tucson-area veterans involved or wanting to be involved in business are invited to a day-long event, featuring speakers, lunch and a variety of information and resources.

The eighth annual Veterans Conference, put on by the Pima Community College Small Business Development Group, will be held Friday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a PCC news release.

The free event will be at the Pima Community College Center for the Arts West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Road, inside the Proscenium Theatre.

Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will be giving a welcome speech, followed by keynote speaker Paul Smiley, founder and president of Sonoran Technology and Professional Services. Smiley is a decorated veteran who employs many veterans, the release said.

The event is free, and attendees will be provided with a catered lunch. The expo area will offer a variety of information and resources for veterans.
