Tucson's largest homeless encampment was cleared out Tuesday ahead of the city constructing a bike park on-site.
The 100-Acre Wood, often called “The Acres” is located near the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and has become Tucson’s largest homeless encampment over the years.
Tuesday's sweep, the final and largest of three phases over the last 18 months, is part of the city's effort to renovate the area's mountain biking trails. Construction on the site begins Wednesday, according to the city.
