A low-pressure system slowly moving into Southeast Arizona will bring cooler temperatures and a chance of weekend rain, the forecast shows.

High temperatures will be above normal Saturday — about 82 degrees — but are expected to drop about 10 degrees by Sunday, the National Weather Service in Tucson said.

There’s a chance for rain late Saturday into Sunday, the weather service said.

Tucson’s high temperature was expected to be about 72 degrees both Sunday and Monday, dropping to about 68 Tuesday with about a 30% chance of rain, the forecast shows.

At the start of September, 91% of Arizona was in severe drought or worse, the Arizona Republic reported.

By late October, after the last round of rain, that number dropped to 67%, with the most extreme categories plunging from 35% of the state to just 10%, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
